The handmade world of HungaMunga has introduced us to many amazing and wonderful musical acts. Here, on these pages we’d like to share them with you. You’ll find information on our favourites bands and performers, interesting links and free downloads of bizarre and random tracks.
HungaMunga is a collection of people who love to get together to make stuff and make music… we put on parties that are nights out with a difference. You come and make stuff while our live bands and DJs play an eclectic mix of fun and wonderful music for you. Each party is filled with FREE arts and crafts materials and hundreds of things to make and do: drawing and painting, knitting and sewing, papier mache and collage, and lots more… If you’re stuck for an idea our Hungamungarians will be on hand to give you some help…
THE STORY OF HUNGAMUNGA
One day at the secret garden Vickle and friends created a magical Playtent where people could make everything they ever wanted out of bits n’ bobs. A stray Moondog wandered in looking for friends (and cardboard). When they met it was a meeting of kind red spirits and they thought “we could make the world a brighter place” and then they thought “oh fuck it… let’s just make a mess”!
moondog loves you club music nights and Playtent merged into Hungamunga.
We’ve been putting on our own events, makey days and recycled art parties for four years and have been proud to have been invited to be part of such wonderful gatherings as the Secret Garden Party, the End of the Road Festival, Art Car Boot Fair, The Camden Crawl, The Mighty Boosh Festival and Lovebox… we also stage our own two-day festival in September, and this year hosted the first Paul Foot Festival with comedy and music.
As well as our regular nights at Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club, we put on Art Bazaars, Natural Selection (our acoustic night), Recycled Art Parties at Favela Chic, and were part of the wonderful Rock’N'Roll Cinema at 93 Feet East, not to mention the fantastic Dude Patrol with comedy and painting with Tom Bell, and were happy to be part of the album launches for our favourite chanteuses Tallulah Rendall and Gabby Young.
We also organise private parties custom-made to your requirements from as little as £20 a head (depending on what you want)… perfect for hen-parties, birthday parties or team-building activities… we can provide all the art materials, a bit of creative guidance, fun and games, DJs and live music if you want… so just let us know…
THE HUNGAMUNGA POSSE are:
Vickle, Moondog, Alex, Martin, Ally, Chloe, Dawn, Mr Croaky, Miss Glory von Hathor, and Tom Bell, with regular appearances from David Cronenberg’s Wife, Tabloid, Thee Intolerable Kidd, The Budda Cakes, Gabby Young and Other Animals, and Antony Elvin… not forgetting our fabulous sound-folk Giuseppe, Owen, Miky and Cynthia.
